When spring arrives on the shores of Lake Geneva, the Montreux Riviera transforms into one of Europe’s most captivating destinations. The air warms, the terraced vineyards of Lavaux turn luminous green, and a calendar packed with festivals, outdoor adventures, and cultural events begins to unfold. Here is a guide to the highlights of spring 2026 in our beautiful region.
The Cully Jazz Festival (10–18 April 2026)
The Cully Jazz Festival is the must-attend musical event of spring in French-speaking Switzerland: eight days of jazz, R&B, soul, and world music set against the unique backdrop of the Lavaux vineyards. Highlights this year include Melody Gardot, Richard Bona, and Sona Jobarteh. Many concerts are free, and the UNESCO-listed landscape around the village makes the whole experience something truly special.
Daffodils and Alpine Trails: Rochers-de-Naye
In spring, the hillside above Les Avants turns into a vast daffodil meadow, and a scenic mountain train climbs from Montreux all the way to the Rochers-de-Naye at nearly 2,000 metres, offering sweeping panoramic views over the lake and the Alps. A classic Montreux experience, whatever the season.

Château de Chillon
Spring is arguably the most beautiful time to walk through the Lavaux, when the young vines glow vivid green on the terraced hillsides. A 32 km footpath leads from Lausanne-Ouchy to Chillon Castle, with seven circuits and wine cellars open for tastings along the way. The season culminates with the Caves Ouvertes Vaudoises on 23–24 May, when more than 200 winemakers across Vaud’s six wine regions open their doors to the public. A tasting bracelet grants access to all participating cellars, with free public transport included across the canton. Quiet, unhurried, and deeply Swiss.
Art & Culture in Lausanne
Lausanne, just 20 minutes from Montreux, offers a rich spring cultural agenda. The Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts presents a major exhibition by Otobong Nkanga through August 2026, while the Lausanne Art Fair in late April gathers over 80 international galleries for four days of contemporary art. A natural complement to any educational programme in the region.
