One Swiss Ski Resort Has Become an Unlikely Street Art Canvas

Picture this: world-class skiing meets incredible creativity. Crans-Montana, a stunning Swiss ski resort in the Valais Alps, is more than just a winter paradise—it’s also a vibrant canvas for street art, thanks to the Vision Art Festival (VAF). This unique blend of breathtaking scenery and bold artistic expression is transforming how people experience Switzerland.

It all started in 2014, when art dealer Gregory Pages had the idea to bring urban art to the Alps. Since then, over 160 artists from around the globe have created more than 200 stunning artworks, turning Crans-Montana into an inspiring cultural hotspot.

Every July, the resort comes alive with creativity as artists transform streets and mountain trails into open-air galleries. These colorful masterpieces stay up year-round, so visitors can explore them through interactive maps or guided tours—on foot, skis, or even e-bikes. Many of the pieces celebrate themes of nature, making them a perfect match for the incredible alpine surroundings.

In 2022, nearly 1,000 local schoolchildren teamed up with artists to create new works, building a connection between young people and contemporary art. This community-driven spirit adds even more charm to Crans-Montana, making it a must-see destination for visitors of all ages.
